As Virginia’s 72nd Governor, Terry McAuliffe Worked in a Bipartisan Way to Create 200,000 Good Jobs, Invest in Education & Build a Stronger Economy
MCLEAN, VA – Terry for Virginia today released a new TV ad “Everybody” outlining Terry’s plans to build a stronger economy that lifts up all Virginians. Since launching his campaign last December, Terry has released 20 detailed plans on what he will do as governor. As Virginia’s next governor, Terry will raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2024, ensure all Virginians have access to paid sick, family and medical leave, make a record investment to give every Virginia child a world-class education, work to make health care more affordable, and lower the cost of prescription drugs.
As Virginia’s 72nd Governor, Terry worked in a bipartisan way to recover Virginia’s economy from the effects of the great recession and sequestration. Terry created 200,000 good paying jobs, unemployment went down in every city and county across Virginia, and personal income went up 14%. He also made a record $1 billion investment in public education, including expanding pre-k to thousands of children, and he laid the groundwork to expand health care coverage to hundreds of thousands of Virginians.
Terry McAuliffe: You know when you’re elected governor, you’re not elected a Democratic governor or a Republican governor, you’re elected governor of the entire state.
Terry McAuliffe: And from the second I took that oath of office, I got out of bed trying to help everybody. I didn’t care what their political persuasion was. I’m gonna lift everybody up.
